Title: People are ruining Superman.

Author: Mort Posted: 23-11-2006

Lately I have noticed a marked increase in the amount of people wearing tshirts with the Superman “s” on it. As an owner of a superman tshirt myself this is a disturbing development. I got that tshirt because I’m a nerd and proud of it, what better way to advertise my nerdiness then by wearing a tshirt that is both unfashionable and bares the symbol of the last son of krypton. I didn’t want to wear “cool” clothes as I’m not cool and don’t want to be, that Superman shirt suited me just fine. About the only place I used to see anyone else wearing one was at a comic book shop. I am assuming that anyone at a comic book shop was also a nerd and therefore wearing the tshirt for a similar reason to me.

However now I’ve started to see random people on the streets of Melbourne wearing superman tshirts. I doubt that these people are nerds and this leads me to the shocking assumption that these tshirts must have become somewhat mainstream. This horrifies me. If I wear that tshirt now people will think I’m just another one of those trendy shmoes, with their MTV and social lives, bah! I bet these people don’t even know a thing about Superman. The next time you see a person with a superman tshirt ask them what effects can red kryptonite have on Superman, or what are the main differences between pre and post crisis on infinites earths Superman. I bet they wont know!

Now I suppose I need to get a new nerd shirt, a transformers shirt is an option, being both awesome and readily available. However with the transformers movie coming out next year I will probably start seeing people wearing those tshirts as well, damn it!

There are more then 317 people who wear a Superman tshirt but dont know his dogs name.
